Memories She was a beautiful baby, walked early and learnt very quickly. Was always up to something when visiting Mark her uncle. And where granddad used to tuck toblerone bars up her sleeve to sneak home. (Yes I knew, Dad!) At Edith Cavell school when 7yrs old, she came home upset for days, a boy had been sneaking up behind her and putting his arm round her throat and hurting her, Martin told her next time he did it, to stamp on his foot and dig your elbow in his ribs. She came home the next day beaming she had done it and he went off crying! Two years later she was learning ‘Kung Fu’ Serina did like things just so, in her bedroom, she would be out on the landing inside the quilt cover making sure it was all flat inside, before it could go on the bed, then a sign would be put on the bed ’Do not sit’ her friends came round and had to sit on the floor! And not forgetting Kola bear, which she used to put her head on to go to sleep, he had the flattest face and tummy you could imagine! Her sister Vanessa, using Serina’s oil paints and painting her bedroom, cupboard and then me trying to clean up before she got home from school. Cutting chewing gum out of her hair that she had left under the pillow. Serina loved Wonderwoman, and would run up and down the room pretending to be her. Serina also mimicking and singing ‘Kate Bush’ songs. , which she did very well! When Serina had her first fit and hoping it would be the last. Serina all dressed in black and her makeup, very ‘Goth’ , an elderly neighbour asked me if Serina had been to a funeral, I had to explain it was the ‘fashion’ Serina’s first weekend job with her friend Jenny, working as a groom. One Sunday morning she trod on a discarded cocktail stick from a Bar-b-q the previous day, Martin pulled it out of her heel using a pair of pliers, but she would not let us take her to hospital until she had been to work as she was saving for a bottle of perfume. Serina shouting Mummmm!!! As the pony she was riding bolted, and she disappeared into the distance. The early morning phone call, ‘Mum, Ahhhh! The baby’s coming, Ahhhh, you never told the pain would be like this, Ahhhhhhhhh.’ I replied ‘ I never told you to get pregnant, but I’m on my way’ Serina’s face when she first saw her baby Danielle, Serina was so young but I was so proud of her. Serina’s first job as Autoglass and bringing up Danielle with help from her grandparents and us. Serina always helping, you never had washing up to do if she was visiting! Serina, Serina, Serina, so many more precious memories, to many to list.
